Two new Citi branches in county

Federal regulators approved a request by Citigroup Inc. to open two new Citibank branches in Bridgeport and Fairfield.

At last report, Citibank had 10 branches in Fairfield County and $1.3 billion in deposits, giving it a 6 percent market share that ranked it fifth overall.

The branches are to be located at 4531 Main St. in Bridgeport; and 1876 Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield.

Separately, the Connecticut Department of Banking approved New Haven-based NewAlliance Bank”™s petition to open a new branch at 560 Hawley Lane in Stratford. The bank currently has three Stamford branches and one each in Greenwich, Norwalk and Westport.
