Tops in shoring up that nest

Led by Fairfield and Litchfield counties, Connecticut knocked New Jersey out of the top slot among states on A.G. Edwards”™ annual “Nest Egg Index” assessing residents”™ savings and investments in retirement plans.

Lower Fairfield County and Torrington in Litchfield County trailed only Los Alamos, N.M., and Silicon Valley, Calif., on the list. It was the second year Los Alamos captured the top spot.

Hartford ranked 20th out of 500 communities listed by A.G. Edwards, followed by New London at 22.

The only other New England communities to make the top 25 were the Cape Cod town of Barnstable, Mass., which ranked seventh; and Boston, which ranked 12th.
