Symposium to focus on recession recovery

NS Capital, a Stamford-based firm of investment advisers, is holding a free symposium called “Facing the Future” on Oct. 7 at the Marriott Stamford Hotel & Spa.

NS Capital”™s core clients are people whose personal investable assets range from $250,000 to $5 million, says Louis Cameron Day, the company”™s senior managing partner. The symposium is tailored to them and other small-business owners, affluent individual investors and managers of small pension funds and endowments.

James Kwak ”“ author of “13 Bankers: The Wall Street Takeover and the Next Financial Meltdown” and the founder of the economic and public policy blog Baseline Scenario ”“ will give the keynote address.

Kwak will talk about where we are now, having gone through the lingering recession, and what we can take away from it, Day says.

Kwak be followed by a roundtable made up of Day and some of NS Capital”™s top managers ”“ Jon Lukomnik, Todd Peters, John Wolfe and Mark Ahern.

As for any tips he might give investors at the symposium, Day says they should do the opposite of what everyone else is doing, which is refusing to take risks.

“You can”™t be risk-averse,” he says. “You”™ve got to be risk-conscious.”

Registration and the cocktail reception begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Marriott Stamford”™s Grand Ballroom, 243 Tresser Blvd.

Reservations are required and can be made by calling 866-913-8414 or logging on to nscapitalsymposium.com.
