Name change for northern Westchester credit union

Hudson River Teachers Federal Credit Union, an approximately 6,000-member banking services institution headquartered at Mohegan Lake, has changed its name to Hudson River Financial Federal Credit Union.

Credit union officers said the new name better reflects the 77-year-old credit union’s field of membership. In addition to serving teachers in 29 school districts in northern Westchester and Rockland counties, its membership is open to students, employees and Board of Education members at those school districts, members of select labor unions, companies and partner groups based in northern Westchester and Rockland, and family members and retirees from those membership-eligible groups.

“Having teachers in our name perpetuated the misperception that we only serve teachers,” Hudson River Financial Federal Credit Union CEO Thomas J. Powers Jr. said, “which has not been so for a very long time. So we’re happy to now have a new name, one that better conveys the broad-reaching credit union we are.”
