Peppers & Rogers stake acquired
Englewood, Colo.-based TeleTech Holdings Inc. acquired an 80 percent stake in Peppers & Rogers Group, a Norwalk-based consulting firm specializing in customer acquisition and retention.
The companies did not immediately disclose financial terms. Peppers & Rogers retains the remaining 20 percent of the company”™s equity.
Don Peppers and Martha Rogers, who founded the company in 1993, will continue to operate the business on an independent basis.
Arch signs lease extension in Norwalk
Arch Chemicals Inc. signed a lease extension for nearly 50,000 square feet at Merritt 7 Corporate Park in Norwalk, where it is based.
Merritt 7 Corporate Park is managed by Albert D. Phelps Inc., and owned by a joint venture of the New York Teachers”™ Retirement System and Fairfield Investors Inc.
Cushman & Wakefield represented Arch Chemicals in the transaction negotiations.
MeadWestvaco sends envelope operations to Cenveo
MeadWestvaco Corp. is selling its envelope products group to Stamford-based Cenveo Inc., with the companies not immediately disclosing terms of the deal.
Separately, Cenveo announced the acquisition of Gilbreth Packaging Solutions, a 75-employee business in Croydon, Pa., that prints plastic shrink sleeves used to wrap labels around containers.
MeadWestvaco”™s envelope group has about 910 employees in the United States, and the companies stated all are expected to transition to Cenveo.
MeadWestvaco was based in Stamford before relocating in 2008 to Richmond, Va.
Report: Sikorsky late again on Canada delivery
Stratford-based Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. reportedly hit another delay in its troubled contract to deliver maritime rescue helicopters to the government of Canada, missing a November deadline to furnish the first aircraft for training purposes.
“We are prepared to apply the most severe monetary penalties possible in the event of a late delivery,” said Rebecca Thompson, a spokeswoman for Public Works Minister Rona Ambrose, as quoted by the Globe & Mail in Toronto.
Canada has 28 advanced Cyclone helicopters on order from Sikorsky, at a contract value of $5.7 billion. The original contract called for deliveries to begin in 2008, but changed contract specifications and technical problems have since delayed shipments. Under the most recent contract modification, Sikorsky is to provide prototypes of the helicopter to allow pilots to begin training, with regular shipments to begin in 2012.
Blumenthal takes on the Kardashians
After Attorney General Richard Blumenthal requested details from University National Bank on credit cards it is marketing in Connecticut in affiliation with television”™s Kardashian family, the St. Paul, Minn.-based company said it would stop offering the cards.
Blumenthal said the Kardashian Kards carry significant activation charges and monthly fees, and because such prepaid debit cards resemble gift cards could be subject to existing Connecticut laws that prohibit predatory fees.
Littlejohn seals deal for Henniges
Greenwich-based Littlejohn & Co. LLC acquired Henniges Automotive Holdings Inc. from Wynnchurch Capital Partners for an undisclosed sum.
Farmington Hills, Mich.-based Henniges makes sealing systems for automobile doors, windows, trunks, sunroofs and hoods; as well as anti-vibration products such as encapsulated glass and rubber components. Henniges has about 4,500 employees.
Rosemont, Ill.-based Wynnchurch created Henniges in 2007 via the buyout of Metzeler Automotive Profile System, which traced its history to 1863; and units of GDX Automotive.
Olympus divests nut company
Stamford-based Olympus Partners sold Ann”™s House of Nuts Inc. to San Francisco-based Gryphon Investors, with the companies not disclosing the transaction price.
Olympus acquired the Jessup, Md.-based company in 2008; at the time, Ann”™s House of Nuts had $250 million in annual revenue selling nuts, dried fruit and trail mix.
Silgan closes on Pa. deal
Silgan Holdings Inc. acquired IPEC Global Inc., a New Castle, Pa.-based maker of plastic caps for dairy, water and juice containers with $35 million in annualized revenue.
Stamford-based Silgan makes both containers and caps, with more than 65 manufacturing plants on four continents. In the third quarter, Silgan earned $65 million on $1 billion in revenue, with sales down 1 percent from a year ago.
Shake Shack to open
New York City-based Shake Shack is opening a restaurant in Westport, its first in Connecticut.
The flagship Manhattan greasy spoon is famed for its long lines at its Madison Square Park location. The company also has a concession stand at Citi Field in Queens, and this year opened restaurants in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Miami.
