Windham County-based Crabtree & Evelyn Ltd. filed to restructure its U.S. retail operations under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The bath and lotion retailer has its headquarters in Woodstock and operates stores at the Danbury Fair Mall, Stamford Town Center and in Westport.
The company indicated it has received a commitment for debtor-in-possession financing sufficient to support its operations during the Chapter 11 process, and said it would continue regular operations and would honor gift cards and returns.
The company did not immediately state whether it will close stores or cut jobs as a result of the bankruptcy proceeding.
