Sikorsky inks union contract

Stratford-based Sikorsky, the largest employer in Fairfield County, announced it has struck a contract deal with workers in Connecticut and Florida covering more than 4,000 union workers.

Officials with Teamsters Local 1150 Dec. 15 said union members approved the deal by a lopsided 2,098 to 66 margin.

The new contract includes both a 10 percent wage increase spread across four years and $4,000 signing bonuses.

Union leaders say the contract also includes upped pension benefits in a “multiplier” clause by 15 percent and would increase cash holdings in the pension fund by 20 percent.

The new contract covers 4,500 workers at Sikorsky’s headquarters in Stratford and its facility in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Sikorsky released a pro-contract statement saying it was fair to workers and would help Sikorsky remain competitive.
