Developer opens long-term airport parking

A company of Cappelli Enterprises Inc. has opened a long-term parking lot for air travelers in an area used for overflow parking at Westchester County Airport.

Westchester Airport Associates will charge $15 a day for stays of three days or more in the lot, which can hold 250 to 300 cars, said Joseph Apicella, executive vice president of Cappelli Enterprises in Valhalla. Cappelli Enterprises holds a ground lease for the airport area parking facilities.

The lot is less than half a mile from the main passenger terminal and offers full shuttle service with a new specially equipped Mercedes Benz van. Free luggage loading and unloading services are included.

The long-term lot will be managed by Park Plus Airport Parking, which also runs airport parking and shuttle services at John F. Kennedy International and Newark Liberty International airports as well as airport shuttle services facilities throughout the metropolitan area.

Apicella said that travelers going away for three or more days have had to find alternative ways to get to the Westchester airport or were forced to park miles away and take a long, uncomfortable bus ride to the terminal.“This solves that problem and at a highly affordable price,” he said in the announcement.

The opening of the long-term lot is the first step in a major upgrade to parking infrastructure at the county airport this year.
