Avelo Airlines expands service at Tweed-New Haven Airport

On March 20 the carrier announced the launch of three new air links out of Tweed-New Haven airport, with nonstop air offerings to Houston, Texas, Saint Louis, Missouri and Traverse City, Michigan. One-way fares are as low as $62 as part of an introductory offer.

With 24 nonstop routes flying out of Connecticut, Avelo can now boast of offering more nonstop routes from the state than any other airline. The routes will start flying in June and will be served by expanding their fleet of Boeing 737s based at Tweed to six, with an additional two 737s based out of state but flying non-stop routes between Tweed and both Durham International Airport and Orlando International Airport.

Basing the aircraft at Tweed will create 35 jobs at the airport.

“We are excited to offer Connecticut residents even more travel options with the addition of Houston, St. Louis and Traverse City. Whether visiting friends and family, enjoying a leisurely vacation or attending an important business meeting, Avelo offers time and money-saving convenience for Connecticut travelers,” said Avelo Airlines Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy in a statement.
