Yonkers Film Festival seeks entries for 2016 event

Officials said this week the Yonkers Film Festival has begun accepting entries for its 2016 event, which will be held for the fourth consecutive year in October.

YoFiFest, as it is called for short, will be held from Oct. 20-23, and will feature more than 100 films, including features, shorts, documentaries, animation, music videos and work of area students. Each day will feature receptions and parties for filmmakers and attendees to meet and discuss films shown.

“We’re looking for compelling stories that area well told,” said YoFiFest director and programmer Patty Schumann. “We’re not overly hung up on when the movies were made or if they are premieres. We just want to share great films with an enthusiastic and supportive audience.”

This year’s festival will also include a “mini film school,” which will feature discussions and workshops led by filmmakers and other industry professionals. Officials did not provide a deadline for film submissions.
