Westport Library’s new Verso Book Club to feature Howard Fishman
The Westport Library has announced its inaugural Verso Book Club event will take place on Oct. 5 at 7:00 p.m. with author Howard Fishman as the first guest.
Fishman”™s writing includes the widely shared New York Times feature “Before Dylan, There Was Connie Converse. Then She Vanished.” and the critically acclaimed book “To Anyone Who Ever Asks: The Life, Music, and Mystery of Connie Converse.” Fishman”™s writing sparked a reappraisal in singer-songwriter Converse”™s work, and there are now more than 10 million streams and 80,000 monthly listeners of Converse”™s songs on Spotify while artists ranging from Wilco”™s Jeff Tweedy to opera”™s rising star Julia Bullock have covered her work.
Fishman is also a frequent contributor to The New Yorker and his essays have also appeared in Vanity Fair, The Washington Post, Artforum, San Francisco Chronicle, Mojo, The Village Voice, Jazziz, and Salmagundi. His play, “A Star Has Burnt My Eye,” was a New York Times “Critics Pick.”
