Long-vacant Fairfield Community Theatre on cusp of being sold
The Fairfield Community Theatre, which has been vacant since 2011, is on the verge of being sold, paving the way for redevelopment and reopening, according to Keith Rhodes, a member of the town”™s Economic Development Commission.
Rhodes, who started a petition to save the theater several weeks ago on change.org, said that he had spoken several times with Colonial Realty President David Gorbach, who represents the theater”™s owner David Pollack, and that Gorbach has assured him his client plans to sell the property.
“While I’ve been waiting on specific details to make a formal announcement, Mr. Gorbach once again informed me late last week that that they are making final preparations for sale and that I could go ahead and make an announcement to the community and petitioners,” Rhodes wrote on the site. “I still do not have final timing, but I understand that it’s only a matter of days or weeks before the listing is formalized and announced.”
Rhodes said that he believed the sale would be pursued through a request for proposal and sealed bid process.
To date the petition has received over 4,200 signatures.
