Cultural Alliance moves office to historic Norwalk mansion

The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County opened its new office March 28, located in the historic Lockwood-Mathew”™s Gate Lodge in Norwalk.

Representing more than 260 creative organizations and artists, the Cultural Alliance was established in 2008 to offer cultural leadership, advocacy and professional development services to the arts community in Fairfield County.

With rapid growth in its membership, the alliance moved to Norwalk to accommodate its growing staff. Previously, the group was located in the Fairfield Theatre Company building in Fairfield.

“The Cultural Alliance has many friends in Norwalk and we have received a warm welcome from the Norwalk Arts Commission,” said Ryan Odinak, executive director of the alliance, in a statement. “A home in one of Norwalk”™s cultural hubs is a perfect place for our new office.”

The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion, built between 1864 and 1868 by a railroad baron, is  considered one of the most significant second-empire-style country houses in the nation. It also neighbors the the Center for Contemporary Printmaking and the Stepping Stones Museum for Children.
