Tasker gets patent for novel technologies
Tasker Products Corp. in Danbury was issued a utility patent describing expanded processes and ingredients for its antimicrobial compositions for pre- and post-harvest treatment of plants and animals. The patent, along with additional pending applications, will provide increased protection for the company”™s novel technologies and formulations used as processing aids and food additives, the company said.
Tasker said its technology has been proven useful as a treatment for the processing of foodstuffs. The patent demonstrates the product inhibits cellular growth in a wide range of pathogenic bacteria, and can be used as a washing solution for fruits and vegetables.
“The technology that Tasker continues to protect through its patent filings has vast commercial potential for a diverse list of potential uses that may not only help protect public health, but also add cost efficiencies to the food processing industry,” said Greg Osborn, Tasker”™s chairman. “The recent expansion of our intellectual property rights and additional patent filings will further insulate our technology from infringement, and secure our competitive edge as we bring critical applications to the market.”
Tasker manufactures, distributes and markets products with various applications, including Unifresh Footbath, a grooming aid product for dairy cows; Pacific Blue Seafood Spray, an antibacterial spray for retail seafood counters; and Tasker Blue, an antibacterial solution for use in processing poultry.
