“It is a testament to the growth of the sustainable agriculture movement that Glynwood received over 60 nominations from more than 20 states to consider for our sixth annual Harvest Awards,” said Judith LaBelle, president of Glynwood Center.

Robert Hastings, farm manager at Rivermede Farm in Keene Valley in the Adirondacks received the Glynwood Farmer Harvest Award. The Garden Resource Program in Detroit received the Glynwood Good Food for Health Harvest Award. FoodRoutes Network and the Buy Fresh Buy Local national network received the Glynwood Award for Connecting Communities, Farmers and Food. The Wave of the Future Harvest Award went to Nuestras Raices in Holyoke, Mass.

Fred Kirschenmann, an organic farmer, educator, distinguished fellow at the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture and president of Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in Pocantico Hills, will receive the first Glynwood Medal for Distinguished Leadership in Sustainable Agriculture, and will present the keynote address at the Glynwood luncheon.

At a dinner celebration at Glynwood on Saturday, Oct. 25, the winners will be honored and locally-produced foods will be featured. On Monday, Oct. 27, an awards luncheon will take place at Beacon Restaurant in New York City.
