Verengo Solar, a California-based solar installer, has announced it is expanding into New York in response to Gov. Andrew Cuomo”™s New York Sun Initiative, setting up an office in White Plains.
The New York Sun Initiative, led by Cuomo and enacted by the Public Service Commission in April 2012, initiated a new era of solar development in the state.
New York Sun aims to quadruple the state”™s customer-sited solar in 2013, offering up to $5,000 in individual tax credits.
“New York has become one of the most affordable places in the country for roof top solar,” Ken Button, president and co-founder of Verengo Solar said in a statement.
“Verengo hopes to help tens of thousands of New York homeowners take advantage of the generous tax credits recently passed by the legislature so they can save money and avoid costly utility rate hikes in the future.”
Verengo will be hosting a job fair April 20 at 329 Route 303 in Orangeburg from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
