President Bush nominated Day Pitney L.L.P. partner Michael Considine as the 50th U.S. Attorney for the state of Connecticut.
The Stamford resident chairs Day Pitney”™s white-collar defense and internal investigations practice, listing a telephone number for the firm”™s New York City office as his primary contact and according to a spokeswoman using the firm”™s Stamford office as his main base.
In the past few years, Considine has co-authored papers on how corporations should handle prosecutorial inquiries from Congress and the U.S. Department of Justice.
Located in New Haven, the U.S. Attorney”™s office for Connecticut has been led since April of this year by Nora Dannehy, who replaced Kevin O”™Connor on an interim basis after O”™Connor resigned to become Associate Attorney General, overseeing a range of departments including the antitrust, civil rights, tax and environmental divisions.
O”™Connor had been U.S. Attorney for Connecticut since 2002, having previously been a partner in the Hartford office of Day, Berry & Howard, a predecessor firm to Day Pitney.
Considine”™s nomination was included among multiple appointments forwarded in mid-July to the U.S. Senate for confirmation, on the eve of the general election this fall.
Before joining Day Pitney, Considine was deputy chief of the Long Island office for the U.S. Attorney”™s office for the Eastern District of New York, handling trials and appeals in several cases involving organized crime.
Considine received his undergraduate degree in 1980 from Boston College, and his law degree in 1984 from Georgetown University.
