DESCRIPTION: Purchase College to Celebrate the Launch of a New Labyrinth for Walking Meditation SUNY Mental Health Funds Made This Possible Students, faculty, and staff will join together on Wednesday, October 22 at 11:30am to celebrate the launch of the Purchase Labyrinth, a walking meditation path made possible by funds from SUNY Chancellor John B. King, Jr. to support mental health initiatives. Labyrinths have been used for centuries for walking meditation to still the mind, calm the breath, bring awareness, and cultivate insight. It will be free and open to the public. Participants at the event will decorate rocks with inspirational messages to begin a Kindness Rock Garden surrounding the Labyrinth. The event will also include live music and light refreshments and remarks by Purchase President Michael Steiper, Vice President Patty Bice, Interim Director of Counseling Joe Cloidt, and Associate Professor and Chair of Contemplative Studies Josh Lutz.
