DESCRIPTION: Get ready for a joyful explosion of culture, music and flavor at the Hispanic Heritage Festival on Sunday, July 13, from 12 noon to 6 p.m. at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla. This high-energy, family-friendly celebration honors the rich and diverse traditions of Hispanic communities from around the globe—and everyone is invited to join the fiesta. The plaza will come alive with the sounds of salsa, merengue cumbia and more from performances by Acuarelas del Perú, Alma Solana, Estampa Folklorica, La Nueva Trayectoria, La Legendaria, Sonora 100% Dinamita, and Santiago y La Orquesta. Tantalize your taste buds with delicious Latin cuisine, explore colorful arts & crafts, and keep the kids entertained with amusing activities all afternoon. It’s the perfect way to spend a balmy Sunday: full of heart, heritage and harmony. Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said: “Westchester is proud to recognize all of the vibrant cultures that make up our area. The Hispanic Heritage Festival is a chance for everyone to come together, share in the happiness and experience the richness of Latino traditions.” Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation Kathy O’Connor said: “This celebration is one of the highlights of our warm-weather season. With all of the wonder, excitement and creation of positive, memorable moments, it’s a true commemoration of fellowship and diversity at one of our most beautiful parks.” Parking and admission are free. The event will be held rain or shine. Seating is informal; please bring blankets or folding chairs for seating. No coolers, please.
