DESCRIPTION: Westchester Collaborative Theater to Premiere a Quartet of Engrossing Pieces in Box Spring 2: A Festival of One-Act Plays Weekends May 9 - 18 On two consecutive weekends, May 9 – 11 and May 16 - 18, Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) in Ossining will present Box Spring 2: A Festival of One-Act Plays, four compelling pieces having their premiere productions at the company’s black box theater located at 23 Water Street. The program follows a hugely successful run of Box Spring 1 in March and April that was presented to sellout crowds at virtually all performances. Alan Lutwin, executive director of WCT, says, “The kudos we received for Box Spring 1 were amazing and I am thrilled that we have an equally laudable new quartet of pieces to showcase. Written by some of the region’s most acclaimed playwrights, performed and directed by a topnotch production team, each piece is thought-provoking and wonderfully written. They all demonstrate a willingness to take risks from language and plot to characterization and construction. Once more we are offering an outstanding evening of theater of which we are extremely proud.” The plays are: Two Christmas Trees on Their Way to The Great Pyramid of Giza by Tara Meddaugh (Harrison), directed by Albi Gorn (Hastings on Hudson). As a happy family (with an axe) shows great interest in two Douglas firs on a Christmas tree farm, the trees wonder how to accept or change their impending fate. Featuring Benna Strober (Bedford Hills) and D. Scott Faubel (White Plains). Sisters in Conflict written and directed by Sarah Bracey White (Ossining). Featuring: Benita Johnson (Newburgh); Victoria Pavia (Ossining); and Jessica W. Bonds (Yonkers). The Blue Moon Café by Joe Carlisle (Croton on Hudson), directed by Howard Lipson (Tarrytown). Of all the diners in all the world, an escapee from The Life and Times of Davy Crockett stumbles into The Blue Moon Café. Featuring Robert Santiago (Carmel), Tina D\'Amato (Yonkers) and D. Scott Faubel (White Plains). A Small Leather Whip, Some Guitar Picks, And A Tiny Chest of Baby Teeth by Pat O’Neill (Bronx), directed by Brenda Hettmansberger (Ossining). Two friends take stock of their lives while clearing out the remnants of another\'s. Featuring Brian Bagot (Ossining) and Michael Candelario (New Rochelle). The stage manager is Kim Chandler (New Rochelle) .The playwrights, directors, actors and crew are all members of WCT. Performances will be Friday and Saturday nights at 8 pm on May 9, 10, 16 and 17; Saturday matinees at 2 pm on May 9 and 16; Sunday matinees at 3 pm on May 11 and 18. There will be a talk-back with the playwrights and directors following the May 10 matinee.
