New signs for Larchmont Lions

If you’re driving into Larchmont along Post Road or Palmer Avenue, you may notice that there are new welcome signs put up by the Larchmont Lions Club. The signs carry the parent organization’s new mission and motto, “Where There’s a Need, There’s a Lion.”

The Lions Club International has 46,000 clubs around the world. The one in Larchmont was chartered in 1926. The international has just finished celebrating its centennial year and has positioned itself as the largest service organization in the world with more than 1.4 million members. Lions Club International has established what it calls a “4-point Centennial Service Challenge – Engaging our Youth, Sharing the Vision, Relieving the Hunger, Protecting our Environment.”  Internationally, the Lions have been working closely with the United Nations on equal rights for women and the current refuge crisis.
