Hospital’s New Rochelle purchases near $40M

Affiliates of Montefiore Health System this fall paid approximately $38.6 million for the New Rochelle hospital, nursing home and housing properties acquired from the bankrupt Sound Shore Health System, according to deed filings at the Westchester County Clerk’s Office.

The Bronx-based hospital paid $25,353,900 for Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester, since renamed Montefiore New Rochelle. Montefiore paid $10,060,458 for Sound Shore’s nursing home facility, Schaffer Extended Care Center, and $3,214,727 for the Sound Shore housing complex at 5-29 Glover Johnson Place in New Rochelle.
