Smashburger Partners, the regional Smashburger franchise owners, will open its fourth restaurant in Westchester County at the Midway Shopping Center in Greenburgh on Dec. 9. The company hired 45 local store associates to run the newest restaurant at 913 Central Park Ave, which has a Scarsdale post office box.
Franchise owners Rich Greenstein, Howard Novick and Ronnie Portnoy last opened a Smashburger restaurant in September. The three started the burger franchise in 2011 with the hope of bringing a better burger business to the region.
“We are excited to continue our expansion throughout the area with our new Smashburger located in Scarsdale,” Greenstein said. “Our White Plains location has been very well received. We look forward to offering the same excellent service and top notch burgers, fries and shakes in the Scarsdale area and beyond.”
Smashburger features a regional menu with a specialty burger depending on the geography. In Westchester, Smashburger offers the New Yorker: a burger with cheddar cheese, garlic grilled onions, spinach, tomato and a peppercorn garlic aioli on a brioche bun.
“In every Smashburger market, we explore what consumers enjoy eating and then bring those tastes and flavors to our menu in an innovative way,” Tom Ryan, Smashburger founder and chief concept officer, said.
Other menu items include the Classic Smash Burger: a burger with American cheese, smash sauce, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion on an egg bun and the Avocado Club Chicken Sandwich: a sandwich with fresh avocado, applewood-smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing and mayo on a multi-grain bun.
The Angus beef is smashed on a 400-degree flat grill to sear in the juices. The restaurant specializes in Smashfries, which are fries tossed with rosemary, olive oil and garlic. They also feature hand-spun Häagen-Dazs shakes and Stewart”™s root-beer floats in frosted mugs.
Smash Partners was recently named the 2013 recipients of Smashburger’s Franchisee of the Year Award. The franchise owners plan to open six more restaurants in Westchester and the tristate area including the Bronx, Manhattan and Fairfield County by next year.
