RiverMarket Bar & Kitchen, a fresh market and farm-to-table style restaurant, recently opened at 127 West Main St. in Tarrytown, in the Hudson Harbor community.
Owners John Crabtree and Glenn Vogt incorporate three different concepts into one space: the bar and kitchen, a fresh market and wine and spirits section.
The restaurant is inspired by the farm-to-table model and serves American cuisine influenced by Mediterranean flavors with local ingredients from the Hudson Valley. Executive Chef John Holzwarth, who has trained under Italian chefs Fortunato Nicotra and Lidia Bastianich for decades, aims for the menu to include local ingredients and sustainable foods.
The fresh market sells an assortment of local dairy and meat products, fish and produce. The market prepare foods-to-go for pickup and delivery with customizable picnic baskets.
Throughout the season, the wine and spirits include selections grown locally and produced naturally. The center of the dining room has 25 bar seats where customers can try nearly 20 micro-brewed beers on tap and 25 artisanal bottle selections, locally produced by Captain Lawrence Brewery, Chatham Brewing Company, Catskill Brewery and Peekskill Brewery.
