UTC inks landing-gear pact with Boeing

Hartford-based UTC Aerospace Systems, parent company to Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. in Stratford, was selected by The Boeing Co. of Seattle to manufacture landing gear for the new Boeing 737 MAX.

The contract calls for UTC Aerospace Systems to provide the nose and main landing gear in addition to the main gear side struts.

Terms were not divulged.

UTC Aerospace Systems will manufacture the 737 MAX landing gear in several of its North America and Poland sites.

Currently, there are more than 1,400 orders for the new airplane with the first delivery of the 737 MAX planned for 2017, UTC reported. UTC Aerospace Systems already provides landing gear for the Boeing Next-Generation 737, 747, 767 and the 777.
