Stew Leonard’s has been named the best shopping spot in New England in the 2013 Readers’ Choice Awards conducted  by the website About.com, the Norwalk-based grocery chain announced April 8.
With grocery stores in Norwalk, Danbury, Newington and Yonkers, N.Y., and nine wine stores in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey, Stew Leonard’s bested the likes of L.L. Bean Inc., The Yankee Candle Co. Inc., Settlers’ Green Outlet Village in New Hampshire and The Vermont Country Store. The results were based on an online poll of thousands of About.com users.
Separately, the Subway restaurant chain was recently named Brand of the Year in the Quick Service Restaurant category in the 2013 Harris Poll EquiTrend survey, conducted by Harris Interactive.
Subway, which is headquartered in Milford, took home top honors in the Harris Poll EquiTrend survey for the 9th consecutive year. For the survey, Harris Interactive polls more than 38,000 people on 1,500 brands across dozens of categories.
