When the Connecticut Department of Labor releases hiring data for the month of January, Fairfield County residents may be in for a pleasant surprise, according to the online job board FairfieldCountyJobs.com.
Job postings for January increased 27 percent from the previous month and 22 percent from a year prior, according to OperationsInc L.L.C., a Norwalk human resources firm that owns a network of online job boards including FairfieldCountyJobs.com.
“With the presidential election behind us and much of the fiscal cliff addressed and/or stabilized, the job market flourished in January,” said David Lewis, CEO of OperationsInc and subsidiary AllCountyJobs.com, in a prepared statement. “It looks as if employers in the county have started to once again focus on expansion and hiring in general. While the state numbers may indicate a level of softness and stagnancy in Connecticut, Fairfield County is showing definite signs of job market health.”
The most-sought positions during the month of January were in the administrative, accounting and medical categories, according to FairfieldCountyJobs.com.
The hottest markets in terms of job postings were Greenwich, Stamford and Westport, the company reported.
