Iona appoints new dean of arts and sciences

After a national search,  Iona College has appointed Sibdas Ghosh as new dean of the School of Arts and Science, effective April 2, 2013.

Ghosh brings to the new post 25 years of academic and leadership experience from both public and private institutions of higher learning. Throughout his career, which includes both domestic and international positions, he has been involved with national initiatives, fostered student and faculty developed, organized community partnerships and encouraged diversity programs.

Ghosh will be transitioning from his current post as professor and chair of the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Dominican University in California. During his tenure there, Ghosh managed to secure over $43 million for capital improvement, research, instrumentation, and conference/workshop grants for a variety of projects at Dominican University and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

He has also published both personal and collaborative works including 38 articles and two edited books.
