HCC to examine its role

Housatonic Community College is holding a Sept. 21 forum to discuss the role HCC should play in the community, with speakers to include Robert Kennedy, president of the Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education.

The forum will focus on continuing education courses and customized workforce development, and will discuss the Bridgeport community college’s new regional Advanced Manufacturing Center.

“With HCC and Connecticut’s other community colleges taking on an increasingly important role in our communities and state, we need to be sure our resources – financial and human – are devoted to address the most pressing needs,” said Ed Becker, acting dean of community outreach at HCC, in a prepared statement. “This forum will provide us with a clear, up-to-date picture of those needs and help us determine our strategic priorities for at least the next three years.”

The forum is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to noon in Beacon Hall on the HCC campus.
