Dr. John Goble, president of Sectra”™s North American medical business based in Shelton, died Nov. 7 after a helicopter he was riding in struck power lines in Adelanto, Calif., and crashed. Goble was 58.
Two other people were killed in the crash, one a former General Electric Co. employee named John Pike, who owned the Piasecki PV-18 helicopter and was flying it to an air show. Investigators did not immediately state a reason for the crash.
“John Goble has been a strong and committed leader of our North American business for the past 12 years,” said Dr. Torbjörn Kronander, president of Sweden-based Sectra Medical Systems, in a statement. “John was a great person to work with, a close friend, as well as a very competent colleague, but most of all he was a loving husband, brother and son. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends in this moment.”
Sectra appointed Tom Giordano as acting president of Sectra North America. Giordano previously was vice president of marketing for Philips North America and has been a Sectra North America board member since 2005.
Sectra makes diagnostic imaging systems used by hospitals and secure communications platforms for government agencies.
