Senior Whole Health L.L.C. will no longer offer in Connecticut its health policies for seniors eligible for coverage under both the federal Medicaid and Medicare programs.
Under Senior Whole Health”™s plans, members pay only pharmacy copayments and the costs of any services not explicitly covered. The company coordinates health care support services for members, from inclusion in the Meals on Wheels program to doctor visits for preventative care such as flu shots and physicals.
As of June, more than 100 physicians in Fairfield County had agreed to provide service under the company”™s Medicare plan.
The company curtailed its entry into the Connecticut market after it was unable to gain approval from the Connecticut Department of Social Services for the Medicaid-funded portion of its plan. In addition to Massachusetts, where it is based, the company provides coverage in several counties in New York”™s Hudson Valley.
The company has been marketing the Medicare part of its plan in Fairfield County from a regional office in Meriden, which it plans to close next year at a cost of 20 jobs.
Senior Whole Health topped Inc. magazine”™s annual Inc. 500 list this year of the fastest growing companies.
