3M Co. is acquiring a line of athletic braces from Beiersdorf AG, which employs 100 at Beiersdorf”™s U.S. headquarters in Wilton and at an Ohio manufacturing facility.
The companies did not immediately disclose financial terms.
Beiersdorf acquired Futuro in 1995. The company”™s braces are designed to provide support for the back, elbow, knee and ankle during activities and following surgery. The Futuro product line also makes dress socks designed to relieve leg pain from conditions like varicose veins and swelling.
St. Paul, Minn.-based 3M runs its CUNO fluid purification products from an office in Meriden and a manufacturing plant in Stafford Springs. The company also has a health-care product office in Wallingford.
Beiersdorf is based in Hamburg, Germany. The company also sells the Nivea and Eucerin brands of skin lotion and beauty products.
