Pitney Bowes Inc. and its software division have combined Pitney Bowes MapInfo and Group 1 Software into a single business unit called Pitney Bowes Business Insight.
Pitney Bowes acquired Group 1 Software in 2004 and MapInfo in 2007. The Norwalk-based company also acquired Australia-based Encom Technology in 2007, which has been integrated into the software segment.

Pitney Bowes Business Insight is now a division of Pitney Bowes Software Inc.
According to Martin, the services strength is its critical data analysis allowing companies to realize increased revenue, improved profitability and enhanced operational efficiency.
