First Student bus line closing Norwalk operation

Having lost its contract to serve Norwalk schools effective at the end of the current school year, bus line First Student is closing its operation in that city and permanently laying off 85 workers.

The moves will take effect at the end of the school year, estimated to be on or around June 30.

Norwalk has turned instead to Durham School Services for student transportation.
