Conair haircare line sold to California private equity firm

Conair Stamford’s Conair Corp. has sold its professional liquids division, consisting of several haircare brands, to El Segundo, California-based private equity firm Transom Capital Group for an undisclosed amount.

The division, which will be renamed Beauty Quest Group, will consist of such product lines as Aquage, One ‘n Only and Rusk. Beauty Quest will also provide contract manufacturing services to other marketers of haircare and other topical products.

“We’re thrilled to add Beauty Quest Group to the Transom portfolio,” Transom partner James Oh said. “We look forward to taking the business to the next phase of growth and providing strategic focus as a standalone company.”

Newly named Beauty Quest CEO John Costanza was vice president and general manager of Conair’s Global Salon Professional Division, having previously served as general manager of its International Professional Division. He was also CEO of Design Group North America and an executive at L’Oreal.
