Greenwich’s dining scene is expanding with the arrival of a new restaurant and a new pastry-chocolate shop.
The Little Beet Table began welcoming customers at 376 Greenwich Ave., taking over the location of The National restaurant that went out of business following a fire in February 2017. Promoted as a “100% gluten-free restaurant that serves healthful dishes and vegetable-forward cocktails,” it is the first Connecticut location for the restaurant, which also operates in New York City and Chicago and plans to open in Chevy Chase, Maryland, later this year.
“We’re so thrilled to be joining the lively Greenwich community,” said executive chef and culinary director Matt Aita. “Our menu is designed to be concurrently delicious and nourishing, and we look forward to establishing ourselves as a go-to neighborhood destination for date nights, family dinners, and celebratory brunches.”
In Cos Cob, Chocoylatte Gourmet has moved into 121 E. Putnam Ave., the former location of Commuter Cleaners. An official opening was scheduled for yesterday, but an electrical problem at the location put the event on hold, although store employees offered free samples for those who arrived for the ceremony.
Chocoylatte Gourmet will focus on the sweeter aspects of dining, with freshly baked desserts, cookies, pastries and assorted fine chocolates prepared on-site each day. The eatery will also offer gluten-free and lactose-free items.
“Chocoylatte Gourmet has been a labor of love for many years and I’m excited to finally share my sweet creations with the rest of the community”, said Kelly Dantas, the owner of the new business. “Since work began on the shop, I have been overwhelmed by the support of so many people. I can’t wait for guest to experience our welcoming atmosphere and our delicious desserts.”
