Neil A. Salonen has announced that he will retire as president of the University of Bridgeport on June 30, 2018.
Salonen, 72, became the school”™s ninth president in 2000, after serving as chairman of its board of trustees beginning in 1995. During his stewardship, UB”™s enrollment climbed to its current 30-year high of nearly 5,700 students while its revenue more than tripled and the campus saw $90 million investments in new and upgraded facilities including the Ernest C. Trefz School of Business.
University Trustee Robert Bercham was named chairman of a newly formed Presidential Search Committee, which will conduct a national search for Salonen”™s successor.
“It has been my great privilege and joy to serve the University of Bridgeport and to work with the board of trustees, whose steadfast confidence in UB enabled us to reach significant milestones on behalf of our students and faculty,” Salonen said.
