Bow Tie Cinemas, the Ridgefield-based movie theater chain that boasts over 400 locations around the country, has five fewer outlets after Cinépolis USA acquired its cinemas in West Hartford; Roxbury Township, Parsippany and Hackettstown, N.J.; and in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Cinépolis USA, the American arm of Mexico’s largest theater chain, Cinépolis, is in the midst of expanding its reach throughout the Northeast corridor as well as in California, Florida, Texas, and the Midwest. Groundbreaking on a 12-screen, 1,200-seat complex in Bridgeport is expected to take place next year.

Calls to Bow Tie for comment were not returned. The company acquired the Clearview Cinemas chain in 2013, adding 42 locations in Westchester and Rockland Counties as well as in Long Island and New Jersey.
