Greenwich Hospital received the 2014 Women”™s Choice Award as one of America”™s best hospitals in terms of the patient experience for women.
The Florida-based WomenCertified Inc. runs the Women”™s Choice Award.
Criteria included quality of physician communications, responsiveness of nurses and support staff, cleanliness and referrals from other women.
According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, women make 90 percent of family health care decisions. “Being named and recognized as a hospital of choice among women represents the strongest and most important consumer message in today”™s health care marketplace,” the hospital said in a statement.
“Service excellence and patient satisfaction are the cornerstones on which we”™ve built Greenwich Hospital”™s culture,” said Susan Brown, senior vice president of patient services at Greenwich Hospital, in a statement. “This award is yet another affirmation of our commitment to ensure that each and every one of our patients has the best experience possible while in our care.”
The America”™s 100 Best Hospitals category of the Women’s Choice Award is billed as “the only national list that focuses solely on female patient satisfaction.”
Scores for each hospital are taken from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems database, using a subset of questions that are of particular interest to women.
The scoring protocol incorporates research conducted by WomenCertified and the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania.
“Recognizing the best hospitals nationwide that are women-friendly and align with women”™s identified preferences is important to our mission, where women help other women with tough, consumer decisions,” said Delia Passi, CEO and founder of WomenCertified, in a statement. “Most importantly, when a woman sees the Women”™s Choice Award at her local hospital, she”™ll know the hospital values her experience as a critical component of her and her loved ones”™ care.”
The 206-bed Greenwich Hospital is a member of the Yale New Haven Health System and academic affiliate to the Yale School of Medicine.
